Chaka Khan

Chaka the Queen of Funk as she is often referred to, was an American music producer. In her career that spans more than fifty years, Chaka Khan has been awarded a total 10 Grammys. Billboard has ranked her as the 65th-most accomplished dancer ever. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and introduced to jazz at an early age by her grandmother. Early in her career, she played in various bands. Then, she joined a group that was named Rufus. The group recorded her first album at age twenty. A year later, the group won their very first Grammy. In the following years, she released her first album as an artist on her own. Through the years she's released other albums, including "Echoes of a Time", "The Woman I Am" and one track called "Funk This". Apart from her musical activities, her work in the charitable sector has brought her lots of recognition. Chaka Khan Foundation was established to help children from poor families as well as those who have autism. Khan also works as actress on occasion. She was the character Carrie in the musical.
