
American actor Thomas William Selleck. His most famous part was as Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) and for which he was nominated 5 times for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in a Drama Series. He was awarded the award in 1985. From 2010 to the year 2010, Selleck has been the New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. In 2005 the actor played the troubled police chief of a small town Jesse Stone in nine television films inspired by the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). Since Magnum, P.I., he has appeared in over 50 roles on television and film, including the movies Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter, baseball. He appeared in frequent television characters as Monica Geller's love-interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends and also as Lance White, the likeable and unassuming partner in The Rockford Files, and as the owner of a casino A.J. Cooper at Las Vegas. He also had a part in the lead role on the television western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran as well as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
